Amongst the thousands of turkey leg and churro stands at Disneyland are hidden vegan gems waiting to be discovered. Although seemingly impossible, the most magical place on Earth got a whole lot better with the introduction and continued vegan additions to the park.
Both Disneyland and Disney World are home to dozens of delicious vegan options, from the famed Mickey Mouse pretzels on Main Street to hearty Vegetable Jambalaya in New Orleans Square, there's no lack of vegan options in any corner of the park.
Check out some of the best vegan options Disney has to offer. Keep in mind that not all parks offer the same food options, so it's best to do your research ahead of time. The list below will focus primarily on Disneyland and California Adventure in Anaheim, Calif; and the food has been confirmed vegan by PETA.
Disneyland:
Mickey Mouse Pretzel
Who needs churros when you've got a perfectly Instagrammable vegan Mickey Mouse Pretzel at your disposal? While the churros might not be vegan, you can rest assured that this salted pretzel is vegan and can be found throughout the park.
Vegetarian Gumbo
Without fail, I eat this vegan dish every time I go to Disneyland. Located near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in New Orleans Square at the Royal Street Veranda, this veggie gumbo is hearty, filling, and comes in a vegan bread bowl.
Wicket’s Wicked Veggie Wrap
—Disneyland Today (@DisneylandToday) November 26, 2016While Tomorrowland might be known for their burgers and pizza, this vegan gem can be found at the The Galactic Grill and is a great alternative to noshing on fries or overly priced fruit in this area. PETA notes that you should order this dish without cheese or pesto aioli to make it vegan friendly.
Venus Vegetarian Pizza
Speaking of pizza in Tomorrowland, you can order a vegan one for yourself at Redd Rockett's Pizza Port. Ask for the Venus Vegetarian Pizza with vegan cheese, or no cheese at all. You can also build your own vegan pizza at Blaze Pizza.
Dole Whip Soft Serve
Fear not, pineapple loves, Disney's famed Dole Whip is vegan.
Mickey Waffles
While you need to request that this iconic Disney breakfast food be made vegan, the fact that you have the option to have vegan Mickey Mouse waffles is hands down the greatest thing to ever happen to your Instagram.
Monterey Tacos
Frontierland’s Rancho de Zocalo has several vegan options for you to choose from. Order the Monterey Tacos, Tostada Salad, or Burrito Sonora “fajita style” and request no cheese for the perfect midday Mexican pickmeup. The Spyglass Grill also offers vegan tacos.
California Adventure:
Pixar Pier Frosty Parfait
This gorgeous Instagram-friendly treat is sweet, refreshing, and an all-around perfect vegan treat. Even the cherry on top is vegan.
Portobello Mushroom Philly
Request this dish without cheese and swap the bun for fries to make this Hollywoodland meal vegan. It can be found at Award Wieners and is a yummy cruelty-free lunch.
Sandianda
—Disneyland Today (@DisneylandToday) March 25, 2018The newest addition to the Clarabelle's Hand Scooped Ice Cream menu, this fruit-filled frozen treat has watermelon sorbet, watermelon chunks, Tajin, and tamarindo sauce for the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. Or, if you’d rather, opt for the Mangonada, which has mango sorbet, mango chunks, chili sauce, lime, and Tajin.
Fajitas Ensalada
Similar to Rancho de Zocalo in Disneyland, California Adventure's Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill has several dishes that can be made vegan. For example, the fajitas ensalada is easily made vegan if you request no cheese, sour cream, or tortilla chips.
Remember to always double check with cast members as products can change without warning — better safe than sorry.
