Born James Vincent Young, he is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter who has played lead guitar for the rock band Styx. He has released three solo records. 

Before Fame

He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a a degree in aerospace engineering.

Trivia

In addition to the Stratocaster guitar, he also plays keyboard, which he started learning at the age of five.

Family Life

He grew up in Chicago with his family. In 1972, he married Susan Godsted.

Associated With

The lead singer of TW4, Dennis DeYoung, brought Young on board with TW4, and they went on to become Styx.
