John Childs is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on August 15, 1951 in Lipson, United Kingdom. The year was 1992. Childs who was now 40 years old, was picked for the England team for the match in Headingley against Pakistan but was unable to be included in the final team for the Test match.
Childs was England’s longest debutant for forty-one decades when he got chosen to play his countrymen from the West Indies at Old Trafford in 1988. He scored one wicket for 91 runs, removing Carl Hooper lbw and scored two runs without losing in either match, as England lost to an innings loss. He also played a second Test in the series on The Oval, taking the wickets of Malcolm Marshall and Gordon Greenidge and remaining unbeaten and not scoring both times in the match, which England lost to the West Indies won by 8 wickets. He was chosen to tour India in the winter following. However, the tour was cancelled due to political reasons.
He was awarded the title of Wisden player of the year 1987. He been instrumental in guiding Essex to win the County Championship.
