Most people experienced "The Legend of Zelda" by sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of an old TV. That's how gaming worked in the Reagan years, at least at home.
Away from home, you could go to arcades and play better looking and sounding versions of many of the same games. However, "The Legend of Zelda" is one game from that era that was never released in arcades.
Thankfully, that's been rectified by a hardcore fan who goes by Wyo, from Arcade Museum. Here is Wyo's "The Legend of Zelda" arcade cabinet:
Here is the arcade cabinet in all its glory. According to Wyo, it's an all-wood construction. It has metallic gold paint, and was wet-sanded and polished so it glimmers in sunlight.
Here it is up close. As you can see, it has some era-appropriate cabinet art. Inside the cabinet is a 20-inch CRT TV with an original Nintendo Entertainment System wired to the stick and buttons. Wyo could theoretically play any NES game on this thing.
Those coin slots look fantastic. This is just a beautiful arcade cabinet that, unfortunately, will never find its way into your local pizza place.
